With climate change on the way, looking after our environment has never been more important. We want to help you reduce your company’s negative impact on the natural world, especially our precious water.
Before it gets to you, tap water has to be abstracted, stored and treated. These can be expensive processes, financially and environmentally. So we should all try to avoid wasting it and minimise the amount we use.
Here are a few ways you could do this:
- carry out regular checks on your site to find areas where water is being wasted, like leaking pipework, dripping taps and toilets that flush excessively
- make all your employees aware of the benefits of saving water, and involve them in developing new best practices
- get a water meter installed, and monitor usage to help highlight opportunities to improve your
water efficiency
- use tap controls and install supply restrictor valves to reduce consumption
- review your business processes to develop ways of using less water, and consider if it’s possible to reuse or recycle water
- and investigate the possibility of alternative water sources, eg boreholes
